How much humidity does a Hoya need?
Humidity-wise, most Hoyas are happy around 50%. Some do need 60-70%, and Doug grows these in grow tents in his basement (pictured below). Hoya linearis is one of the Hoyas I grow: you can hear an On The Ledge mini-episode about it here.
Do Hoyas like high humidity?

Hoyas like their soil to dry out between watering. To avoid overwatering, let your plant tell you when it needs water. Feel the top inch of soil in the pot and if it feels dry against your finger, give some water. If the soil feels moist then give it another day or two and test again.

When you water your Hoya keep the soil moist but in spring and summer. Too much water can lead to root rot. Some homeowners like to mist the leaves frequently. To increase high humidity, and cleaning the leaves, misting is fine.

Your Hoya Plant will do just fine in average household humidity. The ideal room temperature for your Hoya is between 60-85 degrees. If the temperature falls below 55 degrees, it will stop growing. Avoid drafts and direct air from heating and cooling vents.

Water regularly with room-temperature water, spring through summer. Let the top layer of soil dry between watering. In the fall and winter growth naturally slows down and they won’t use as much water. Water sparingly during fall and winter, give them just enough that the soil doesn’t dry out completely.
Do Hoyas like being outside?
Hoyas are traditionally grown indoors as a houseplant. They have thick, fleshy leaves and star shaped flowers that grow in an umbrella shape. These creamy white and pink little flowers are unreal looking. Like most of my indoor plants, my hoyas love a little vacation in a sheltered area outside during the warm months.
What temp can Hoya survive?
It tolerates clay, sand and loam soils of slightly alkaline or acidic nature, but even outdoors is usually grown as a container plant to protect it from nematodes. In wintertime, plants will tolerate nighttime temperatures down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Can Hoya leaves get wet?
Hoyas are very good at storing moisture in their leaves. This means that even after the soil has dried out, they still have a vital supply of water available. So when it comes to watering Hoyas they’re definitely more at risk of overwatering than underwatering.
